Breads
Whether big or small, sweet or savory, homemade breads make an excellent gift for any occasion. They can be the base for a tempting dessert or served in single sliced topped with butter.
I’m including among the breads loaves, muffins, sweet rolls, scones and other morsels that “rise” to the occasion.

Nana’s Zucchini Bread
I’ve had my own zucchini bread recipe for years, but somewhere deep inside, I have always longed for Nana’s, full of slightly tart walnuts that were set off by wonderfully sweet dates. For the 2010 season, Nana granted my wish, and I bring you her recipe.
Sweet Cornbread
As a side dish or dessert, this super-sweet take on classic cornbread pops with flavor.
Tropical Gingerbread
Soft, rich and a little bit tangy, this tropical gingerbread been a near-staple of every Christmas baking season. It’s terrific on its own or paired with freshly whipped cream or vanilly ice cream.
Whole Wheat Banana Bread
Whole wheat and brown sugar make this modified banana bread a hearty, moist respite from the traditional. A favorite in our household includes cubes of whole wheat banana bread, topped with vanilla ice cream, banana slices and caramel sauce.
Orange-Blueberry Muffins
I sought out a basic blueberry muffin recipe, and added a few little twists of my own to accommodate a time crunch and my own pantry. The results were a light and airy blueberry muffin, not too sweet, with a hint of crunch and tang on top.
